Diamond Microdermabrasion Facial

Information:

Microdermabrasion is an extremely popular procedure used for the treatment of a variety of skin problems and for the maintenance of healthy skin. The procedure involves passing a diamond encrusted device over the skin with light suction to remove the top layer of skin called the Stratum Corneum. Dermabrasion stimulates the production and growth of new collagen and skin tissue in which skin cells are more plentiful and better vascularized. The reason for this is that when the skin heals and is reforming it grows back with a stronger blood supply. Babies have a tremendous blood supply to their skin and this is why their skin has a healthy glow. Skin is made up of many layers. Pigmentation damage lies beneath the surface under layers of skin, sometimes several. Skin renews itself every 21 days. Microdermabrasion speeds the process along.

Refines:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles (Collagen formation is stimulated by the mild, controlled removal of skin causing improvement)
  • Clogged pores
  • Sun damage
  • Superficial scars
  • Uneven skin tones
  • Acne scaring
  • Pregnancy mask
  • Skin pigmentation

CONDITIONS THAT RESPOND TO MICRODERMABRASION

Altered Pigmentation/Hyperpigmentation
Melanocytes are located in the stratum germinativum of the epidermis. When stimulated by heat or the UV rays of the sun, they release melanin into the skin causing the darker pigments on the surface. With Diamond’s dual control systems and advanced positive pressure systems with their emphasis on crystal projection the therapist can focus and concentrate their work on the surface with little stimulation of the melanocytes.

Microdermabrasion creates wonderful skin assimilation. It provides the opportunity for maximum bio-availability of nourishing serums, vitamin therapies and botanical extracts to feed and fortify the skin.

Temperamental Breakouts
The cleansing and balancing effect of the suction, combined with the microdermabrasion surface refinement, is an incredible way to control and minimise breakouts. Trapped debris is released thereby limiting pore infection

Blackheads
The Diamond system is very effective in loosening blackheads. Many are removed during the treatments and more will release over the next few days

Milia
Spot treating with the Diamond tips works miracles! This is done after a full crystal/organic grains microdermabrasion

The Unit is the newest method of microdermabrasion by using a diamond tip wand that is safe for all skin types as opposed to messy crystal machines that leave residue and run the risk of eye damage.

How many treatments do you need?
This treatment is meant to be progressive, not aggressive.  Generally results are more noticeable after the 3rd treatment.  However, after the first session the skin will appear fresher, cleaner, smoother and softer for most clients.  Treatments are usually performed every 2 weeks for a series of 6.  Maintenance treatments are suggested once every 4 to 6 weeks.

Some clients with severe hyper-pigmentation may have to endure several treatments.

*Microdermabrasion process: A tiny layer of skin is milled off with diamond probe grains and controlled vacuum inhaling to renew the skin.

*Ultrasound process: (preformed directly after): High frequency vibration is used to generate friction along molecules producing heat which penetrate the cell membranes and also helps the healing gel (used with the device) to penetrate.

Side effects:  You will notice some slight redness on problem areas that require more attention such as sun damage, pregnancy mask, dark spots and acne the day after a treatment. The skin on these areas will flake away after a few days due to the shedding of the epidermis revealing newer fresher looking skin. Recommendations will be given for post-treatment.

Restrictions after treatment:

  • No tanning salon or sun exposure for 24 hrs (after 24 hr period, ALWAYS!!! use SPF 30 or higher when outside and don't forget to re-apply after 1 hr.For those with sun damage: Wear a wide-brimmed hat when outside always, so not to undo treatment effects and to avoid further damage).
  • No blush, foundation or powder makeup for 24 hrs, unless it's mineral based.
  • No products containg: Alpha-hydroxy acid, bezoyl peroxide containing Hydroquinone, Glycolic acid, Skin scrubs, Retin-A.
